John Denver, a singer-songwriter who hails from Colorado who specialized in folk-pop music has touched the hearts of millions. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in love with Colorado and then moved to Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado as John Denver." Denver is the Hall of Fames' inaugural inductee was recognized with this honor in 2011. Today, he is the face of Colorado on the world stage. When I travel, I always meet someone from the other part of the globe, or someone from New Zealand and you say 'I'm originally from Colorado and the first thing they say is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working with small folk groups. The song was written in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver was introduced to an earlier version he knew right away it was destined to be the next hit single. The song was recorded by the singer just a few days later when he performed it in front of an enthusiastic audience on the streets of Washington D.C.
