Queen Latifah

Dana Elaine Owens is an American artist and rapper, best recognized under the stage name Queen Latifah. Her career as a musician, film and TV artist has won the actress two Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Image Awards. She also received a Grammy Award along with six additional Grammy nominations. Queen Latifah was raised in Newark, NJ. She is the daughter of Rita Owens, Sr. and Lancelot Owens Jr. The couple divorced when Latifah aged 10 years old. Latifah was brought up in the Baptist church and she attended Catholic schools in Newark New Jersey. Latifah is an Arabic word that means "delicate and kind". The cousin she had bestowed it on her when she was eight. Latifah was always tall and tall.
